NYU faculty and staff have access to a number of web conferencing tools. To help you decide which solution is appropriate for your needs, please complete the Web Conferencing Request form. Once FITL has received your request, we will follow up with a tool recommendation.
The Meetings tool is an open source web conferencing tool for online teaching and learning. It enables instructors to share documents (PDF and any MS Office files), webcams, chat, audio and their desktop. Meeting sessions can also be recorded for later playback by students or the instructor.
Meetings are primarily used in NYU's online courses, but the tool can also be made available to instructors of onsite courses for special cases that require remote instruction.
The FITL Center is working with NYU ITS to make this tool available to faculty users at the School of Engineering. There are currently two ways of accessing Meetings:
- Instructors who teach online have access to use Meetings in both their online and onsite courses
- Instructors who teach onsite only may complete a brief online certification program to enable Meetings in their course sites
If you are interested in recording your lectures, lecture capture may be an option for you.
