"When I started my master’s degree at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering in the Fall of 2013, I was pretty sure my life was going to change, but that was mostly because I was moving to New York City. What I did not expect was the program to change my entire thought process and me as a person as well. Once I read this biotechnology student testimonials page, I decided I wanted to attend this school. NYU is a renowned institution around the world and its location is another attractive point, but the graduate education in biotechnology factored equally into my decision.
The course structure of the biotechnology program is designed to open up a world of current and future possibilities and there are so many electives from which to choose. Neuroscience is taught by three reputed professors from other institutions and two laboratory-oriented courses, Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering, are ideal classes if you want to be in the research stream. There is also a course on starting a biotechnology company taught by a successful entrepreneur and a course on intellectual property rights taught by IP lawyers. There is something for everyone, no matter what you aspire to be.
During my time as a student, I had the opportunity to work in two cancer research centers in the city as a research assistant as well as a job on campus as a teaching assistant. These opportunities are readily available if you put in the effort. I realized my passion to work in the pharmaceutical industry while doing an extensive assignment for the Biotechnology in the Pharmaceutical Industry course, and now I am employed as a clinical business analyst at a major pharmaceutical company in the Boston area. The NYU Tandon School of Engineering will give you the platform to excel in your field."
