Sarah Appelbaum - Undergraduate Student Profile
As an ambitious Chemical Engineering student, Sarah Appelbaum 14' leverages the power of the School of Engineering to network in the financial sector while savoring the art and influence of “young, vibrant” Brooklyn.
While attending Lakeland High School in Westchester, Sarah decided to follow her father’s career path, which promises world travel and work in various industries. Thanks to the NYU merger, the Wasserman Center for Career Development notified her about a diversity and women's event at Goldman Sachs. For the past two summers, Sarah interned there in technology development for human capital management, learning where engineers fit into the financial sector.
Whether living in the School of Engineering dorms or off-campus, she calls Brooklyn the “cool borough” of New York “where everything is happening” — music, shopping, restaurants, performances, sports, and entertainment. Sarah encourages young women with an interest in engineering to “Go for it! It’s a great time to be a woman in engineering.” Ever ready, she will graduate from the School of Engineering next year with BS in Chemical Engineering and an MS in Management of Technology.
