The Chem-E-Car is an annual competition organized by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in which students participate in the design and construction of a car powered and stopped by chemical reactions, while meeting specified design criteria. The participating teams optimize chemical, mechanical, and control systems of their design, address safety considerations, prepare engineering documentation, and build and test prototype vehicles for competition at regional and national conferences.
