The NYU Prototyping Fund is now accepting applications for the spring cohort. The Fund is a collaboration between the Tandon Greenhouse Program and the Entrepreneurial Institute and awards teams with up to $500 to build prototypes. You are invited to take part in a special final presentation of first-year engineering student projects in the MakerSpace EventSpace December 12th, 2016 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Fall 2016 was the first semester of a new set of EG 1001 The Innovation and Technology Forum and EG 1003 Introduction to Engineering and Design combined projects focused on invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the MakerSpace. Come learn about their team projects in a Shark Tank style pitch fit for America's Greatest Makers. An overview of the projects:

  • A digital exercise assistant (using XBox Kinect) that senses and tracks weight lifting movements
  • A multicorder (think Star Trek tricorder) for high school physics classrooms that is a multi-use measurement tool
  • A passive RFID system for tracking and finding lost personal items
  • An emergency kit with GPS, solar panel, and supplies to help stranded people
  • A motion sensing device that notifies you when laundry is done or a 3D print completes
