Mehak Hashmi - Undergraduate Student Profile
Mehak Hashmi ’14 explores the School of Engineering life through tutoring, enjoying live performance and staying active, as an energetic Chemical Engineering undergraduate who can’t imagine studying anywhere else.
During her junior hear at Dobbs Ferry High School, Mehak Hashmi (Chemical Engineering, 2014) found a passion for AP Chemistry. At the School of Engineering, she learned how her degree could merge with her interests in business and law. Outside class, Mehak helps prospective and incoming students as an Admissions Ambassador and tutors students in chemistry and calculus via the Higher Education Opportunity Program.
With the impending finalization of the merger with New York University, she also enjoys the increased access to humanities courses, performing arts clubs, fitness centers and career resources. For young women curious about engineering, Mehak recommends the School of Engineering as a “welcoming, considerate” environment, full of opportunities. Her advice: since engineers are defined by their thinking about the world, understand that there is a logical process behind everything. After graduating, Mehak plans to become a patent attorney for chemical engineers.
