I am a theoretical physicist who has specialized in general relativity and cosmology.  Most of  my work has been in early universe and black hole physics, although I have made occasional forays into quantum mechanics and other areas.  I was born in Philadelphia, grew up in the Princeton, NJ area, did post-docs at Oxford, Moscow State University and the University of Cape Town.  Since then I've taught physics at Princeton, Harvard and elsewhere. I also write a good deal for the general public.  My personal website has links to my books and a few of my articles.

Research Interests: General Relativity, cosmology, fundamental physics

Swarthmore College, 1975
