Rajshree Hillstrom

Rajshree Hillstrom PhD, MBA, is an Industry Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at New York University Tandon School of Engineering. She earned her B Tech (Hons) and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mauritius. After working in industry for 4 years, she obtained a scholarship to pursue a PhD in Bioengineering at Anglia Ruskin University and the Mid-Essex Hospitals Trust in the UK, where she also completed an MBA.  Her love of teaching and research kept her in academia in the UK for the following 2 decades. During that time, she has been developing fruitful long-term research collaborations with US institutions, including the Hospital for Special Surgery, Columbia University, New York University, Boston University and Harvard University, which led to international awards, peer reviewed publications, book chapters, and research funding, including the Arthritis Research UK. Whilst in the UK, Professor Hillstrom developed and directed several state-of-the-art laboratories for research in medical engineering as well as programs in Medical Engineering and Engineering Management. Professor Hillstrom has decades of experience in teaching courses ranging from Mathematics and Statistics, Project Management, Financial Management, Biomechanics and Biomaterials.
