Narges S. Mousavi ,
PhD

Visiting Assistant Professor

Dr. Narges.S. Susan Mousavi joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering as Visiting Assistant Professor. She earned her Ph.D. and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from NYU-Poly (now NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering) and her BS degree in Mechanical Engineering-Thermal and Fluid, from Tehran University.

The main focus of her research is on heat transfer and fluid flow modeling of ferrofluids, in particular, in-field behavior of ferrofluids such as development of field-assisted microstructures of magnetic nanoparticles and their influence on thermophysical properties of ferrofluids, reversibility of the assemblies, and laboratory measurements of thermal properties of nanofluids and in-field ferrofluids.  She is also very interested in the applications of ferrofluids in engineering and medical practices.  Dr. Mousavi mastered in Electron Microscopy (EM) and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (Cryo-TEM) and is interested in the science of electron microscopy and its application in facilitating in-situ observation of microstructures.  As part of her scholarly activities, Dr. Mousavi has published several conference and journal papers and has submitted and presented her work in international conferences, for instance, International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition – ASME (USA 2011) and ISHMT- ASME Conference (India 2013).

Dr. Mousavi held an adjunct faculty position at the ME Department of NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, and was postdoctoral research scientist at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering.
