Globally, we generate some 2.5 quintillion bytes of data each and every day, and an estimated 90% of the data in the world was created in the last two years alone.

GPS signals, shopping transactions, taxi rides, social media posts, online videos and digital photos . . . by any measure it’s Big Data, and at NYU Tandon, we’re discovering new ways to analyze it, visualize it, and harness its power to better the world.

NYU Tandon data scientists are helping doctors map the causes of autism and track epidemics, guiding architects in designing work environments that increase well-being and productivity, allowing financial professionals to assess risk prudently, making our systems of government more transparent and opening up new frontiers in machine learning and artificial intelligence in order to solve pressing societal problems. And with 2.5 quintillion bytes of new data every day, that’s just the beginning!
