Did you take any IDM course(s) online? If you did, how would you describe your experience?
I took the Creative Coding class online. It was a different experience. You could move at your own pace and re-watch the class videos when needed. The professor was really responsive and available at all times.
What inspired you to pursue a Master's degree in integrated design & media?
I've always been a creative person, since childhood. I was interested to see how technology could be combined with creativity to create an impact on society.
What set the integrated design & media program at NYU apart from others you considered?
I loved the varied range of subjects offered. Right from Augmented reality, Virtual Reality, to Game studio, UX design and Creative coding, we had it all. Experienced faculty, advanced research labs, world renowned reputation and location NYU attracted me to this program.
Which courses in the program made the biggest impact for you, and why?
I feel the User Experience Design class had the biggest impact on me. This class made me realize the importance of good UX, irrespective of the medium or product. It taught me how to approach any problem using design thinking methodology, the importance of storytelling and user-centric centric design. I sharpened not only my design skills but also improved my communication and story-telling abilities.
What specific skills or mindset did you develop here which were pivotal to your career?
I learned that it is important to work hard and rise to new challenges fearlessly. Expanding your social circle, making friends and professional connections along the way, taking part in various events and organizations in NYU are very important to one's career.
