Workshops and Cultural Activites

Whether you need help developing your study skills or managing your money, we have a workshop for you. Throughout the year we offer a wide range of workshops to help you develop the academic and life skills you need to succeed. In addition to graduate school, career, and financial aid workshops offered throughout the year, we host a monthly series of workshops each semester.

Wisdom Wednesdays

An academic workshop series that covers topics such as time management, test preparation, goal-setting, and procrastination. Held on a given Wednesday of each month.

Wellness Wednesdays

A stress-management workshop series that teaches students to reduce their stress levels through the use of instructional videos, games, and relaxation techniques. Held on a given Wednesday of each month.

Thank Goodness It’s Friday (TGIF)

An informational workshop series to help students learn various life skills that covers topics such as nutrition, CPR, and money management. Held on the last Friday of each month.

Fit Fridays

A sports themed workshop series where TRIO students have the opportunity to form teams and compete against TRIO staff in various sports such as basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, etc. Held on a given Friday of each month.

Cultural and Social Activities

Everyone needs time to relax, especially when dealing with the challenging workload at the School of Engineering. To help enhance your overall learning experience and give you an opportunity to unwind, we organize free cultural activities and trips throughout the academic year. These fun events give you with a chance to hang out with other TRIO students while experiencing new places and cultures.

These are some of the exciting trips we’ve taken in the past:

  • Museum of Natural History
  • Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum
  • Federal Reserve
  • Broadway Shows
  • Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum
  • Transit Museum Rose Center for Math & Science
  • Cultural Restaurants

Each year over Memorial Day Weekend we schedule an out-of-state trip in which selected students can visit a city such as Boston, Philadelphia, or Washington D.C. Students will have the opportunity to visit museums, historical landmarks, and participate in a host of other activities.
