New students enrolling for the Spring 2014 semester have specific instructions about our school-sponsored health insurance. Please see below:

All the School of Engineering students (undergraduate and graduate) who are enrolled in 9 or more credits will automatically be enrolled in our school-sponsored health insurance plan. The fee for this plan will be placed on your tuition bill. Domestic students may choose to opt out of the insurance plan. All international students are required to have the school-sponsored health insurance plan regardless of the number of credits they are enrolled in.

• Coverage effective dates for students enrolled Fall 2013: August 24, 2013 - August 24, 2014
• Coverage effective dates for new students enrolling Spring 2014: January 1, 2014 - August 24, 2014
• Coverage effective dates for new students enrolling Spring 2012: January 1, 2013 - August 24, 2013
• Deadline for DOMESTIC Fall enrollees to submit waivers is September 11, 2013; The deadline for New Spring enrollees to submit waivers: February February 4, 2014.
• Deadline for Part-Time students and dependants to enroll for the Fall Semester is: October 1, 2013; the deadline for part-time students and dependents to enroll for the Spring Semester is February 15, 2014.

Coverage Costs and Policies

Students Enrolling for the Fall 2013-2014 Semester

All new domestic the School of Engineering students (undergraduate and graduate) for the Fall 2013 semester ho are enrolled in 9 or more credits will automatically be enrolled in the school-sponsored health insurance plan. The fee for this plan will be placed on your tuition bill. Coverage will begin on August 24, 2013 and end on August 24, 2014. The fees are $499.00 per semester. All international students are required to be on the school-sponsored plan regardless of the number of credits enrolled in for the semester. Remember your health insurance, which includes your prescription coverage, is provided by Aetna Life Insurance Company. If you have questions regarding your enrollment, your card, or the plan, please contact Aetna Student Health at 855-236-2145.

Waiving Health Insurance (DOMESTIC STUDENTS ONLY)

If you have private insurance with comparable coverage, you have until September 10, 2013 to waive the school plan by going to the online waiver site and providing your private health insurance information. . Applying for a waiver does not automatically waive you out of the plan. You will be contacted by the insurance carrier if there are questions regarding your waiver. If you do not waive by September 10, 2013 deadline, you will be responsible for the fee. Continuing Students

International Students
You are REQUIRED to be enrolled in the school-sponsored plan as part of your enrollment at the School of Engineering regardless of your number of credits enrolled in for the semester. You will be charged $499 for the fall 2013 semester, and an additional $499 for the spring semester. You must print your updated insurance card by September 15, 2013. We encourage you to go online between August 1, 2013 and September and select the PRINT MY ID CARD link

It is important that you confirm your address is correct with NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering as well as with Aetna Student Health. Should you move, all your insurance claims will continue to go to your old address unless you change your address with Aetna Student Health at 855-236-2145..

Part-Time Domestic Students Newly Enrolled for Fall 2013
For domestic students enrolled in fewer than nine credits, school-sponsored insurance is optional. If you do not want coverage, you do not have to do anything. The fee for Fall 2013 part-time students is $499 for coverage from August 24, 2013 to January 1, 2014.

Spouses, Domestic Partners and Children
If you're enrolled in the School of Engineering-sponsored insurance plan, you may also enroll your dependent children (up to and including 26 years) or spouses or same sex domestic partners who reside with you. To enroll dependents, you must enroll online. Non-Insurance Discount Program
A voluntary discount program is available to all the School of Engineering students. It provides students, and those within their household, with discounts on the following services: vision care, dental care, prescription drugs, chiropractic care, alternative medicine, hearing services, vitamins and nutritional supplements, and a national fitness program. Discounts range from 10-50% depending upon the services utilized. The annual cost is $29. Again, this is a discount program and is not health insurance. Dental Care
Through our affiliation with NYU, the College of Denistry Stu-Dent plan is now available to the School of Engineering students. This program is not associated with the School of Engineering student health insurance plan.
