The first of the spaces scheduled to be occupied as part of the School of Engineering's MetroTech Center expansion, as it was leased in nearly "move-in ready" condition, was the 6th floor of 15 MetroTech Center. The space accommodates the School of Engineering's administrative departments, most of which previously were located within the Jacobs Administration Building.
The space is a bright, contemporary, professional environment - outfitted with cubicle work stations, uniformly sized interior offices, and three well-furnished conference rooms for use by all members of our community. By placing departments close together in adjacent work areas, the space fosters collaboration between departments and streamlines our operations.
The departments that relocated to the space, in a three-phased move from August 2011 through January 2012, are: the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, Office of Sponsored Research, Information Technology, Finance and Business Affairs, Human Resources, Development and Alumni Relations, Enterprise Learning and ePoly, Marketing & Communications and Web & Media Services.
In the fall of 2013, the School of Engineering will open an 10,000-sq.-ft. incubator on the 19th floor of 15 MetroTech in a project supported by the NYC Economic Development Corporation.
