The fall semester started on a high for the Applied Physics department when the Society of Undergraduate Physicists (SOUP) organized the first annual student-professor departmental picnic at the Riverview Lawn, just next to the Manhattan Bridge in Brooklyn. Approximately twenty applied physics majors and ten faculty members enjoyed lunch and mingled in various activities, including soccer, football, frisbee, and board games.
The event, which integrated students and professors in a non-academic context, was undoubtedly a success. Second-year major Kaitlynn Snyder remarked, “It was a great opportunity to bond with professors outside class, and we should definitely do it more often.”
