Cross Country Competes at Queensborough Event

Velasco Leads the Way for NYU-Poly


Bronx, NY - The NYU-Poly men's cross country team took 11th place out of 12 teams at the Queensborough Invitational held at Van Cortlandt Park this past Sunday morning. The team was lead by sophomore Christian Velasco (Camiling, Philippines / Camiling Catholic School),who cruised into 29th place with a time of 34:15. Sophmore Devin Lovell (Cranberry, PA / Seneca Valley Senior High) came in 35th place with a time of 36:05, improving his personal best by one minute. Improving his personal best by a full 3 minutes was 15-year-old sophomore Ramon Cepeda (Bronx, NY / NYC Lab School), placing in 47th spot with a time of 42:07 Sophomore Todd Selby (Norwell, MA/ Norwell HS) and freshmen Caylen Liew (Phillipsburg, NJ / Phillipsburg HS) followed placing 50th and 51st with a time of 42:52 and 45:05 respectively.

Moving forward the team has seen some recent additions who are eager to contribute to the improvement of the team's overall performance. The team is looking forward to returning to Van Cortlandt Park this Sunday for the Hunter Invitational.
