Women's Volleyball Goes 1-2 at Roger Williams Tournament


Bristol, RI -  For the second weekend in a row, the NYU-Poly women's volleyball team took to the road for a tournament, this time to the Roger Williams Invitational. The Lady Jays ended the day with a 1-2 record, defeating University of New England (UNE), then losing to Rivier before being shutout by the host team.

NYU-Poly started off the UNE match still half asleep as they fell down two sets 19-25 and 10-25 before storming back to win the match 3-2, sweeping the three final sets 25-19, 25-11 and 15-11.  The Lady Jays battled with the host Hawks eventually falling in three sets 25-18, 25-16, 25-16. NYU-Poly was held to a low hitting percentage of just 0.085 for the match. Senior Meredith Shipman (Sugarland, TX)  led the Lady Jays with six kills on 17 attempts, helping her receive an All-Tournament team nod.

The Lady Jays ended the day with a 3-1 loss to Rivier. After winning the first set 25-19, NYU-Poly lost the next three 25-22, 25-11 and 25-14.
