Men's Tennis Edges Yeshiva 5-4

Thrilling finale puts NYU-Poly atop Skyline


Flushing, NY -  The NYU-Poly men's tennis team avenged a 2009 loss to Yeshiva University by picking up a 5-4 victory Thursday night in the 2010 matchup held at the United States Tennis Association Center in Queens.

Tied at 4-4, the final match at third singles saw junior Anton Fyodorov (Brooklyn, NY) edge out Sam Klein 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 to win the match and ultimately the contest for the Jays. Other singles winners included sophomore Yan Krasny (Far Rockaway, NY) defeat Zach Charles 6-1 and 7-5 at first singles while at second singles freshmen Julian Wrede (New York, NY)  picked up the win over Joe Itkes 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles play, NYU-Poly (1-1, Skyline 1-0) won at first doubles with Krasny and Fyodorov winning 8-2. Wrede and sophomore Kyle Garingalao (Eatontown, NJ)  won a tight match at second doubles 8-5. Yeshiva won at third doubles.

NYU-Poly's match on Sunday with Brooklyn College has been postponed, so now the Jays will not play until Wednesday when they trave to Purchase College for a Skyline Conference matchup.
