We've Defined It. You Design It.: i²e Poster Winner Announced

Polytechnic Institute of NYU has crowned Yangzi Tan (Chemical and Biological Engineering, BS 2013) the winner in its second annual i2e poster design contest.

Michael Hutmaker, dean of the Division of Student Affairs and creator of the contest, challenged NYU-Poly students to visually define i2e, NYU-Poly’s philosophy of leading invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

“Students were asked to focus on the themes that showcase the future of science, engineering, digital lifestyles, technology and/or invention — all aspects of the Power of PolyThinking,” explained Hutmaker.

Entries were judged on three areas: how well they demonstrated the i2e theme both visually and verbally (students submitted written descriptions with their posters which you can find as captions in the poster gallery below); their artistic quality; and their overall visual impact.

Members of NYU-Poly’s Communication and Marketing Department and Naomi Nemtzow, director of the Polytechnic Tutoring Center who’s also a local artist, served as the contest’s judges.

Joining Yangzi in the winners circle are 2nd place winner Anup Ved (MS, Electrical Engineering), 3rd place winner Avon A. Gabriel (Civil Engineering, BS 2010), and 4th place winner Najee Gardner (Digital Media, BS 2011). The winners received cash prizes for their efforts: 1st place - $500; 2nd place - $300; 3rd place - $150; 4th place - $50.
