Jays Fly High on Senior Night

Beat Bard 2-1 to earn #5 seed in upcoming playoffs

Brooklyn, NY -  On a night when NYU-Poly honored its five seniors, it also picked up a huge Skyline Conference win, defeating Bard 2-1. With the victory NYU-Poly leaps over Bard in the seedings and now holds the 5th seed. The win sets up a Quarterfinals rematch against Maritime, a team NYU-Poly tied 0-0 earlier in the season.

Senior Volkan Turgut got the Jays on the board in the 10th minute as he headed in a throw in from freshmen Sal Devito (Pequannock, NJ / Pequannock HS). Freshman Nick Belesis (Marblehead, MA / Marblehead HS) tallied his first game-winning goal as he converted a pass from sophomore Adam Lakawicz (Butler, NJ / Nutler HS).  Lakawicz beat a defender down the left side and layed off a pass to Belesis who's first touch put him in on a one-on-one with the keeper. He slotted his shot out of reach of the Raptor keeper and into the back of the net to give NYU-Poly a 2-0 halftime lead.
