NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering CSAW Summer Research Program for High School Teachers

High school teachers from the New York metropolitan area are invited to apply for NYU School of Engineering’s CSAW Summer Research Program for High School Teachers which is based with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

This program will launch this summer 2014. The aim is to engage high school teachers in a cyber security research experience and deploy them to introduce their students to the challenges of cyber security.

During the “Guided Training” portion of the program, teachers will receive intensive instruction in cyber security by means of lectures, discussions and hands-on learning exercises. During “Collaborative Research,” teacher teams will be paired with a faculty member for a four-week collaborative research experience.

In the fall, teachers will be encouraged to enter student teams in the national CSAW high school forensics challenge organized by NYU School of Engineering. CSAW is Cybersecurity Awareness Week: a 10-year old program focusing on students competing in hands-on cyber security challenges created and managed by NYU School of Engineering graduate and undergraduate students in consultation with NYU School of Engineering faculty and industry leaders. Also in the fall, teachers will be required to attend RET Day at NYU to showcase their research for colleagues and school district administrators to promote a wider adoption of project activities.

*Note: All teachers who participate in the program are required to use their own laptops throughout the duration of the program. A laptop will not be supplied.
