About Inno/Vention

Students must form a team around an idea for a business, including both hardware and software products and solutions.
The competition challenges NYU students to validate, prototype and pitch commercially-viable ideas for real world problems. The competition will be broken up into three stages with teams divided into two entry categories: software applications and hardware applications. The goal of Inno/Vention is to foster the development of student ideas into commercially viable entities. Through weekly sessions, entrepreneur’s office hours, mentorship and faculty support teams will be put through a 12-week progressively intensive program to build on their initial ideas.

During the ProtoTest stage and for the remainder of the competition, teams will be required to work with a faculty mentor. Faculty mentors can be nominated by the team or they have the option to work with Incubator Faculty Engineers-in-Residences (EIRs) or faculty members that already volunteered their time as part of the competition.

Prizes are awarded to teams making it through each stage of the competition.
