INNOVATING WOMEN: Female Industry Leaders Discuss STEM at NYU’s Carter Journalism Institute

Conference / Symposium

For NYU Community

New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute will host “Innovating Women,” a panel discussion featuring female leaders in the science, technology, engineering, and math industries.

The event brings to life Innovating Women, a compilation of first-hand accounts by successful women in STEM industries and co-authored by Farai Chideya and Vivek Wadhwa. The book chronicles the challenges faced by women in these technical professions and the structures employed by companies that contribute to the advancement of women in the workplace—or those that stunt it.

Panelists for the event include: Chideya, a writer-in-residence at the Carter Journalism Institute and host of the PRI podcast on global visionaries, “One with Farai”; Cynthia Hellen, the founder of SMPLCT Lab; Virgilla Kaur Pruthi, the author of “An Immigrant’s Guide to Making It In America” and the founder of Network of Women; and S. Mitra Kalita, Ideas editor at Quartz and author of “Get to Work: A Guide to the Indian Workplace,” among other publications.

Subways: 6 to Astor Place; N, R to 8th Street.

Reporters interested in attending must RSVP to James Devitt, NYU’s Office of Public Affairs, at 212.998.6808 or james.devitt@nyu.edu
