We are pleased to offer online tutoring for CS 1133 during the Spring 2014 semester during specified hours. Online tutoring is available beginning February 3 on Mondays 12:00pm-5:00pm, Wednesdays 1:00pm-3:00pm, and Fridays 12:00pm-3:00pm. Online tutoring is by appointment, and appointments can be made for up to one hour. Students are limited to no more than two online tutoring sessions per week. Appointments can be made only for the current week or for the following week. We require at least a 24-hour advance notice if you would like tutoring online. You can request online tutoring by one of three ways: you can call us at 718-260-3425; you can come see us at JAB 373, or you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, being sure to include your full name, your seven-digit ID number (not your N number), and the day/date and time chosen from our online tutoring hours you would like to receive tutoring.
When you make an appointment, we will reply with a confirmation for your date and time. We will also send you a link to open to start your tutoring session. You will be working in Blackboard Collaborate, and you will need to familiarize yourself with several of its features. There is a chat feature that will allow you to type in your questions to the tutor. If you have a headset or a webcam, you can speak directly to the tutor. There is also a whiteboard, where you and the tutor can work out problems together. In addition, there is a computer sharing feature that allows you and the tutor to share each other’s computers so that you can work in the same programs together. You will need to have the latest version of Java installed. You should log in to the session 10 minutes prior to when your actual tutoring session begins. More instructions are available here: BB Collaborate Help.
