The School of Engineering created the General Studies (GS) Program to provide students who do not meet the traditional admissions requirements with an opportunity to obtain a science, engineering, humanities, and management-based education in a supportive environment.
GS provides students with a variety of services to encourage their success. These begin with a mandatory summer intensive prior to the start of their first year and continue throughout the academic year with mandatory, weekly tutoring and advisement sessions. Once admitted to the School of Engineering's General Studies (GS) Program, students must successfully participate in the program for one year before they are transferred to the departmental adviser for their major.
