Prapti

During my last year in undergrad, I was weighing many different options. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go into R&D, manufacturing, or business upon graduation. The versatility of the Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship program at NYU is what appealed to me the most and why I chose to obtain my graduate degree right after my bachelors. During my time at NYU, I had the opportunity to take courses relating to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, as well as business classes at the Stern School and even a programming course! These classes exposed me to industry professionals and I was able to obtain a great understanding of different areas within the biotechnology field. By the end of my first year, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry that incorporated R&D and manufacturing.

My next step was to find an internship for the summer. By using the resources from the Wasserman Center for Career Development and researching online, I was able to secure an internship at Merck &Co. Pharmaceuticals. As topics I had learned in class came up in interviews, I knew I had made the right choice by going to NYU. Moreover, during the internship I could relate my work to my courses.

By the end of the summer, I interviewed at Merck for a full-time position, and received a job offer well before graduation. I will be starting at Merck as a scientist working on upscaling commercial processes for vaccine creation. The analytical, critical-thinking, and soft skills I gained during my 2 years at NYU are unparalleled and the primary reason why I was offered my dream job!
