STS3243 Humans, Machines and Aesthetics

Credits: 3.00

This seminar proffers a glimpse into the historically contingent relationships between machines and humans from the Enlightenment to the Industrial Revolution. The course underscores the ways in which those interactions helped define aesthetics, particularly in music. In a very real sense this course traces the history of creativity over the past three centuries.
