This course develops the advanced abilities of students in the Polytechnic Honors Program. While it introduces students to the expectations of college-level writing—including writing-process fundamentals and the inherently rhetorical dimension of all writing—it moves quickly to advanced writing applications. Through the strategies of invention, drafting, responding and revising, students better understand and hone their writing abilities as they critique and challenge one another. Instructors emphasize argumentative and analytical writing, critical reading and writing, use of academic sources, knowledge of academic forms and sentencelevel control. Credits: 3.
Prerequisites: For some students, placement into the course may require the prerequisite of EN 1080W or EN 1090W. For most, there is no prerequisite. Corequisites: None. Notes: None.
